Who We Are

Avicenna is an educational platform designed to help users explore patterns, symptoms, terrain states, and supportive approaches. It is not a medical diagnostic or treatment service.

Information We Collect

• Account information, such as email address and authentication provider.
• Information users voluntarily submit while using the platform, including health-related information such as symptoms, observations, daily check-ins, monitoring entries and confirmed lab values, and feedback.
• Uploaded documents and images, when users choose to provide them.
• Photographs and PDFs attached in the chat composer. These are sent to Avicenna and to OpenAI, its AI processing provider, so they can be processed. Avicenna does not store attachment files after the request that carried them; retention by OpenAI is governed by OpenAI's own terms. The Lab Extraction Wizard is separate and continues to process documents locally in your browser; only the values you confirm there are sent to Avicenna, where they may be stored with your account.
• Structured observations of clinical photographs. When you attach a photograph such as a tongue photograph in a saved conversation, Avicenna stores the list of what was visibly observed (for example colour or coating) with that conversation, so later questions can refer to it. The photograph itself is not stored. These observations are deleted when you delete the conversation.
• Technical, diagnostic and security information, such as server logs of requests and errors, sign-in errors, and the browser type, screen size and page sent with feedback you submit. This is used to operate, maintain and secure the service. Avicenna contains no analytics or advertising software.

How We Use Information

• Provide platform functionality.
• Respond to feedback and support requests.
• Maintain platform security.

Avicenna does not use your information for advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

AI Processing and Service Providers

Avicenna uses OpenAI to generate its responses. The text of your messages and of the conversation they belong to, photographs and the content of PDFs you attach, and the instructions and images you provide when asking for an image are sent to OpenAI for processing. Avicenna does not add your name, email address or account identifier to these requests, but anything you write or attach is sent as you provided it. OpenAI handles this information under its own terms.

Nothing is sent to OpenAI until you have agreed to this in the app. Avicenna asks once for your account, before your first message, image request or report; if you choose "Not now", nothing is sent. Your agreement is recorded with your account and deleted when you delete the account.

You can withdraw your agreement at any time in Menu, Account, AI processing. From then on nothing more is sent to OpenAI unless you agree again; your account and data stay. Withdrawal does not affect what was already sent before it.

To manage costs and fair use, Avicenna may record how much AI processing each request used: the AI service and model, the type of operation, token counts, image settings, an estimated cost and whether it succeeded. These records contain no message, attachment, image, prompt or answer. When you delete your account they are kept only as anonymous counts, no longer linked to you.

Account, conversation and monitoring data and generated images are stored with Supabase. The service is hosted by Vercel, which also keeps server logs. Educational videos are embedded from YouTube; when a page containing a video is opened, YouTube receives technical information from your device under its own terms.

Data Security

Reasonable technical measures are used to protect user information. No online platform can guarantee absolute security, so users should avoid submitting information they do not want processed by the service.

Deleting Your Account

Avicenna stores the conversations of signed-in users, including each conversation's title and messages, so they can be reopened later. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: choose Delete account, next to Sign out.

Deleting your account permanently removes your sign-in account, your saved conversations with their titles and messages, the structured records of observations made from photographs you shared, safety confirmations you gave, images generated for you, daily check-ins, monitoring data, confirmed lab values, feedback you submitted, your access entitlements, any business invitation issued to your email address and your billing profile. An active membership is cancelled first. This cannot be undone.

Invoices already issued are kept for accounting purposes. They still contain the name, email address and billing address they were issued to, so they are not anonymous; they are no longer linked to an account, and no further invoice emails are sent to that address. Other transaction records that must be kept for accounting or legal reasons, such as payment events and reconciliation records, may also remain; they are no longer linked to an account. Copies held in service-provider backups and logs, and by OpenAI, are governed by those providers' own retention terms.
